Fun with science.

These are pictures I took with the Scanning Electron Microscope, my favorite toy at school. Behold!
This is a single bacteria on the surface of a fragment of a 6000-year-old human brain. I never realized bacteria have surface textures until I took this picture. This picture was taken at just under 20,000 times magnification, so it takes a lot to be able to see that. But I suppose it makes sense.

This is a picture of a single human hair at 1000 times magnification. Its my friend Tessa's hair, in case you were wondering.

I took a trip to Canada.

These are the only pictures I took. We went for an art conservation student conference. I meant to take more pictures, but Canada (especially this portion of Ontario) is really quite dull. I am still trying to figure out what makes it any different than the United States.
This is a historic fort in Kingston, Ontario.

A (real) Hollywood prop house.

Here are some photos I took on a trip to a movie prop house in LA. Its a very strange cross between a museum and a flea market. You can touch everything, but nothing is for sale. The pack-rat in me secretly wants a warehouse exactly like this, all my own.
All the chairs anyone could ever need.

Military garb.

I'm not sure this is the look for me.

Somewhat self-explanatory.

All pirate-related goods were on hold for Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Why anyone thought it was necessary to make yet another one of those movies is beyond me.

The Iron Maiden in the Medieval-torture-device section. Equipped with rubber spikes so that someone could actually be put in there. Fun!

Meet me as a blond.

This is for my family, so that they can see the new and appropriately Californian me. I took this picture right after I dyed my hair, so it looks especially crisp and new. I've definitely got roots now. Everyone will know I'm not really blond!

The Batcave!

This is the original Batcave, tucked in the Hollywood hills. Which, as it turns out, is a tunnel dug through this particular hill. Blows away some illusions I had, but then I tend to believe everything I see on TV. I guess it makes more sense that the car would drive straight through a tunnel. But I still like the idea of Adam West carefully backing the Batmobile into a cave for every shot.
