Anne Marie is too cool for this rock.

Cruising through Utah.

After saying goodbye to Zion, we started the drive on to Bryce Canyon. Wind and rain and scenic byways.

Anne Marie is too cool for this path.

Zion (Part 2)

We continued our explorations of Zion, despite gathering clouds. I'm not usually much for speed hiking, but in this case it was well worth to get a few pictures and hustle back before the torrential rain started.

Anne Marie Juxtaposes.

While strolling around Zion, we noticed a group of tourists taking group photos in the middle of the road. This inspired us to take some of our own awkward photos as an homage. And here begins Anne Marie's cross-country ode to inappropriate vacation photo poses. Enjoy.

Road Trip: Day 3

This marked the beginning of a tour through some of the great National Parks of Utah. Our first stop was Zion National Park. Gorgeous.

Road Trip: Day 2

We stopped by the Hoover Dam on our way out of town. A spectacular feat of human construction, as always.

Also, very hot.

After a quick peek at the gift shop, we set off for Utah.
Goodbye, Nevada!

18 hours in Vegas

This is how we made a very quick stop in Las Vegas, complete with giant slot machines, fish, and all-you-can-eat buffets (not pictured). Perhaps this is as much time as I ever want to spend in this city. It is rather silly.

Roadtrip Redux: Chapter One

Suddenly it was time to hop in the car and head back east. So I set off with my mother and sister for a cross-country adventure. Day one was a short drive from LA to Las Vegas.

Welcome to Las Vegas.

Malibu and Planet of the Apes

On my last full day in the city, Ryan and I took a trip up to Malibu for seafood and sightseeing.

This is the beach where they shot the final scene of Planet of the Apes. It seemed like an appropriate way to say goodbye to the west coast and Los Angeles.

So farewell, Los Angeles, for now. I wasn't sure it was possible, but I think I'll miss you.
On to other things, for now at least.

Karaoke Goodbye

As with all things, I prefer to celebrate with badly sung songs. So a farewell karaoke party was arranged.

In the words of Dave: Best.

Yosemite

It's not fair to see Yosemite in one day, but since we were on a very tight schedule, we proceeded to cruise through the park at moderately breakneck speeds. Here is a brief record of a brief visit. I'll be back sometime soon, I hope, to fully enjoy what this park has to offer.

El Capitan. Exciting in person, and much more exciting in photos now that I've watched Star Trek V.
