Summer is starting without me...

Dave (Paige, that is) had a Memorial Day BBQ replete with patriotic goodness and food. There were apricots and goat cheese wrapped in fake bacon, sequined cacti, and enough patriotic temporary tattoos to decorate a small army.
Only nine days until UCLA catches up with the rest of America and finally acknowledges that summer has actually started!

Birthday Karaoke

My classmates took me out for karaoke for my birthday. I didn't take many pictures, because I was entirely too busy singing. These are the only ones I took.
I'm not sure what Brett was singing, but I'm pretty sure it was amazing.
I've been sad to be deprived of Koreatown karaoke places since leaving New York, but this (also Korean-run) place rivaled some of the New York ones. And since I didn't get to sing Midnight Train to Georgia, I might have to go back soon.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

These are birthday coasters and REAL bagels sent all the way from Brooklyn.

And this is how excited I am about the aforementioned presents.
Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes. Makes me miss Brooklyn even more than I normally do. But in the best way possible. I'll be back soon!

A trip to the Standard.

We took a trip to the Standard hotel for Deanna's birthday. Sixties futurism at its finest, a swanky bar, and a girl sleeping in a glass box in the lobby. I unfortunately do not have a picture of that last part.

Art and Science in action.

These are some images from the project we're working on in the lab right now. We're synthesizing pigments in our wall paintings class.
This is me exploding things on the hotplate.
And filtering one of our concoctions.
And this is generally how I feel about grad school right now.
